Mechanisms linking hyperglycemia in pregnancy to the offspring cardiovascular system dysfunction

چکیده
Hyperglycemia in pregnancy (HIP) is a high-glycemic state that occurs during pregnancy, and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) the major cause of it. Studies reveal GDM has long-term adverse impacts on mothers offspring, such as maternal type 2 diabetes, premature birth stillbirth newborns, cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders adult offspring. In recent years, studies transcription level metabonomics have provided new insights into pathophysiological mechanism GDM. This article reviews transcriptional levels metabolomics involving dysfunction which may provide insight to health pregnant women

Maternal Hyperglycemia During Pregnancy Predicts Adiposity of the Offspring
OBJECTIVE To investigate associations between maternal pregnancy hyperglycemia, gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), and offspring adiposity. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS We evaluated these associations in a longitudinal study of 421 mother-daughter pairs at Kaiser Permanente Northern California. Maternal pregnancy glucose values were obtained from maternal medical records. Outcomes included t...
متن کاملA high-fat diet during rat pregnancy or suckling induces cardiovascular dysfunction in adult offspring.
Epidemiological and animal studies suggest that diet-induced epigenetic modifications in early life can contribute to development of the metabolic syndrome in adulthood. We previously reported features of the metabolic syndrome in adult offspring of rats fed a diet rich in animal fat during pregnancy and suckling. We now report a study to compare the relative effects of high-fat feeding during ...
متن کاملFolate supplementation during pregnancy improves offspring cardiovascular dysfunction induced by protein restriction.
Dietary protein restriction in the rat compromises the maternal cardiovascular adaptations to pregnancy and leads to raised blood pressure and endothelial dysfunction in the offspring. In this study we have hypothesized that dietary folate supplementation of the low-protein diet will improve maternal vascular function and also restore offspring cardiovascular function. Pregnant Wistar rats were...
متن کاملHypertension in Pregnancy and Offspring Cardiovascular Risk in Young Adulthood
Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy include gestational hypertension and preeclampsia. In addition to hypertension, preeclampsia is characterized by proteinuria and is a leading cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity. It is well established that women with a history of hypertension in pregnancy are at increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) later in life, and their offspring may also ...
متن کاملInflammatory mechanisms linking periodontal diseases to cardiovascular diseases.
AIMS In this article, inflammatory mechanisms that link periodontal diseases to cardiovascular diseases are reviewed. METHODS This article is a literature review. RESULTS Studies in the literature implicate a number of possible mechanisms that could be responsible for increased inflammatory responses in atheromatous lesions due to periodontal infections. These include increased systemic lev...
